UMI 233 is a multidisciplinary research unit. The team « operational research » is conducting clinical trials, epidemiological and intervention studies on AIDS and Tropical Diseases.

Eric Delaporte is co-coordinator of the Cameroonian ANRS Site where more than 20 studies are ongoing. For instance with the co-support of EDCTP(EU) the team is PI of an important clinical trial evaluating different strategies of second line treatment for HIVin five african countries. With the support of ESTHER (jumelage hospitalier impliquant le CHU de Montpellier) and ANRS the team is PI of intervention programs to improve access to HIV care in developing countries.

Recently the team (Michel Boussinesq) received an important grant from the Gates Foundation to evaluate a new strategy to eradicate filariosis in Central Africa.
