March for Science – April 22nd 2017 - in France and in Montpellier

The March for Science was initiated in the United States as a reaction to the denial of science, and the questioning of its place in American society. The movement has spread rapidly all over the world.   In France, the March will take the form of a large non-partisan meeting between the public and scientists, covering three major topics:   Defending the independence and freedom of public research. Promoting a better dialogue between the sciences and society. Reinforcing the use of scientific methods and results in the process of political decision-making.

The initiative is supported by the CNRS, INSERM, INRA, INRIA, CEA, IRD, CPU, CURIF and a growing number of universities.

La Marche pour les Sciences (March for Science) a été initiée aux Etats-Unis en réponse au déni des sciences et à la remise en cause de la place du savoir scientifique dans la société américaine. Le mouvement est rapidement devenu mondial.

La March est un grand rendez-vous non partisan entre le public et ses scientifiques autour de trois thèmes majeurs :

Défendre l'indépendance et la liberté des recherches scientifiques publiques.

Promouvoir un meilleur dialogue entre sciences et société.

Renforcer l'emploi de méthodes et résultats scientifiques dans le processus de décision politique.

Cette initiative est soutenue par le CNRS, l’INSERM, l’INRA, l’INRIA, le CEA, l’IRD, le CPU, le CURIF, plus un nombre croissant d'Universités.
